Although it is Winter and pretty cold here this past week, there are already signs of the coming Spring.
I have hardly been out in the garden these last few weeks but I have been aware just lately that the primroses were beginning to open. One on another plant looked a bit nibbled but here is a perfect one.I believe that even humans can eat primroses, though I never have, so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised if other creatures find them tasty.
Near the fence there were some Leucojum.Like the primroses, I acquired these when other people were thinning out an excess of plants.
Here you can see both outer and inner more closely.I rather regret that the exuberant growth of my Spring Hellebore has killed off my Christmas roses. It’s buds however are here already.Again I will show you a closer view.I always think how beautiful flowers are when you have time to look at them closely.
I will leave you with a little crochet. I am still working on the blanket I showed you last week. I now have only three more row of the colourful portion but I decided to make a start on the cover for my cushion that I showed you.
I am using the yarn left over from the Springfrost blanket and I think that I will need about thirty rows that is twice the number of different colours.
I completed the first six colours this afternoon.
This evening I completed another six.
I noticed my bulbs are coming up now and some daffodils have buds. Not long to wait now.

Tulips I planted in December are already green shoots in the pots, this makes me feel very happy

I agree. The signs of new life in the Spring are always cheering.

We are currently very firmly in winter, at the moment it’s only 1°, liking the little reminders that spring will be here in March, it feels good. I enjoy winter thought. Not wishing my life away. Enjoying warming foods, lighting a fire every day and wearing my HM woollies. Stay cosy.

Our tiny iris and the Snowflakes are always the first out. Worth a closer look. I picket up some Hellebores from Morrisons for 40p each the other day and they look smashing!

Sound lovely. I suppose it is the time of year they sell them.
